Victorian & Victorian Gothic-Inspired Conservatories
There are many fine examples of Victorian rectories and houses around the country to be much admired, and the diversity of building style throughout this period encourages us to carry forward the same adventurous spirit in the design of our conservatories. The projects in this section highlight the diversity in design and decoration on both host buildings and our creative additions.

One of the more unusual structures ever built for a writer on architecture Lucinda Lambton, working closely with eminent architect Eric Throssel.
Victorian buildings often incorporate a profusion of elaborate detail including decoratively shaped windows, ornate cast metal crestings and elaborate bargeboards. It does allow for a degree of creativity when designing a conservatory for this period of house and we often find ourselves reflecting an element of detail found on the house.

Victorian Gothic went further still with castellations, elaborate finials and highly decorative columns and pilasters, and we have been fortunate to design for some magnificent buildings over the years.

Victorian Conservatory Details
Window detail can be kept simple with decoration focussed on elaborate hand-carved corbel columns or striking stop chamfer pilasters. More elaborate structures can include arched window styles, deep ornate eaves with dogtooth dentils and an array of different styles of column.

Ornate cast metal cresting, finials and feature bargeboards can play a major part in defining the character of a conservatory. Our patternmaking department are often involved in creating detail that can be incorporated into ridges, eaves and within the gables.
